CHALLENGE

Town Lake is the jewel of the City of Austin, where the Colorado River flows through the center of the city. Unlike any other city in the country, this urban waterway is completely dedicated to public park space and is utilized by more than 20,000 citizens and visitors daily. The Town Lake Trail Foundation asked Spoonbend to develop an exterior graphic wayfinding system to help people navigate the more than 10 miles of urban trails.

RESULTS

Spoonbend developed an overall design architecture for the structure of the wayfinding elements, and represented the design through a rigorous approval and testing process with the City of Austin Parks Department. Once designs were approved, Spoonbend held a fundraising auction to raise money for the Town Lake Trail Foundation to support the construction costs of the mile markers. Spoonbend also has supported the Foundation in selecting the locations for and supervising the installation of the wayfinding elements.
